I'm always on the lookout for a good vinyl option for bags and wallets. I think this one is a good option. I went with Gilt since gold goes with most colorways. It's a thick vinyl with what looks like good quality webbing backing. Cutting the vinyl is smooth and I had enough to cut a full wallet and some accent pieces for a matching bag, with a little left over. The vinyl also has some depth to it with the sparkle being kind of layered looking. The only thing I don't love is the value. I think it's pretty pricey for the amount of vinyl (29.99 a yard at the time of review). I tend to shop with smaller businesses for vinyl and they're not quite as pricey. So overall I do like the vinyl, but I will probably go back to my other sources to get a better deal.
The color is less red than McDonald's red, it's more a tomato shade of red. There is also a strong smell. The material cuts clean and smoothly. Very easy to cut. It feels pretty thick, perhaps thicker than you would want for small crafts. Though it seems to hold shape very well and doesn't crack or anything. Material is supple and smooth. After creasing, there are memory lines but it may be able to be smoothed back out. I hand stitched a few various sizes of needles through it, though I didn't run it through the sewing machine yet. It was difficult with my thickest, bluntest needle, but very easy with my thinnest beading needle (the kind with big eye), which surprised me how easy it was to go through as those needles are very flexible. A medium needle is fine.If you need a particular shade of red, this might not work for you. I was hoping for a true red color, so was a bit disappointed. The pictures do not look accurate, tried to compare to a red red object but it doesn't really show up. It's definitely tomato red.
The center console on my Prius was looking pretty raggedy (iykyk, fellow Prius owners) and I wanted to replace it with something that would be waterproof and easy to clean. This vinyl was perfect! I watched a YouTube tutorial on removing the old fabric, and then I just used hot glue to attach the vinyl. It's been a couple months and it still looks perfect. Bonus points for making me look like a cool mom when I'm on school pickup duty 😅
I bought this to make axe sheaths. It’s easy to work with and after adding a leather welt I feel like these will last years. Just what every axe needs….sparkles!Update: I have 3 colors now. The blue and green are perfect. The purple is more pink than purple but it still works for my project.
